During the annual summer seminar held in Ohrid on July 1-2 2023, led by Prof. Robert Naumoski(3rd degree black belt and head instructor at Ultimate Jiu jitsu) our team got upgraded with couple of new belts. Five students were promoted to the rank of blue belt. After lots of time spent on the mats and in competition arenas Dorotea Kalaputi, Marija Martinoska, Filip Petkoski, Hristijan Choleski and Georgi Prenzoski were awarded with their new, more than deserved belts. And the highlight of the seminar was the promotion of our instructors Blagoja and Dejan to the rank of black belt. This is great achievement, and marks a very important milestone of the spreading of BJJ as martial art and martial sport in the city of Ohrid, Macedonia. Along with them with to rank of black belt were promoted Martin Stefanovski (Instructor at The Strongest Kumanovo) and Aleksandar Zatkoski (The Strongest Macedonia).

On Sunday 04.06.2023 our competition team took part in the international submission fighting tournament ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Macedonia Open 2023, held in Skopje. This high level tournament hosted more than 250 competitors from 17 countries with stacked brackets. Our fighters brought their best game on the mats, and at the end succeeded to secure 7 places on the podium: 1 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. The grind continues with eyes fixed on the next battle. All January 2022 training sessions will be arranged as Open Mat sessions. Drill, Roll, Repeat.
Our competition team took part in the ADCC National Tournament held in Kavadarci on 28th November 2021. The team of 10 athletes fought through the brackets and at the end managed to collect 4 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals, placing our team 3rd at the team rankings. Our fighters successfully followed the gameplan to a reserved spot on the podium. This is a great success taking into consideration that our team fought under ADCC rules for the first time. Our instructors Blagoja Trajchevski and Dejan Choleski recived their brown belts on 22 august 2020. The belts were awarded to them by Ivica Aleksovski.
On 17th November 2019 in Kumanovo, the No Gi State Championships were held, organized by Roots BJJ Kumanovo, and the Macedonian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation. In this tournament participated all the clubs members in the Federation, with around 100 athletes fighting for place on the podium. The Roots BJJ Ohrid team had 23 competitors in differnet belt, weight, and age categories. The team members of Roots BJJ Ohrid, after demonstrating great performance in their fights, at the end of the day, managed to win 25 medals in total. out of which 6 were state champions titles. In the Adult category (18 and above) state champions are Ilija Avramoski (-91,5 kg,blue/advanced belts), Mario Avramoski (-91,5 kg, white belts), Martin Danev (-79,5 kg, white belts) and Vladimir Dukoski (-67,5 kg white belts). In kids category (14 and below) state champions are Hristijan Choleski (-45 kg, orange belts) and Georgi Prenzoski (-65 kg, yellow belts). In the absolute categories Ilija Avramoski and Nikola Protugerov took 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the advanced belts category, Vladimir Dukoski took 3rd place in the white belt absolute, and Marija Ristevska menaged to win 3rd place in female absolute (blue/white belts). The complete medal count for Roots BJJ Ohrid was 6 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medal, placing our Team on тхе excellent second place in team rankings. This is great success for Roots BJJ Ohrid, that is a consequence of the hard and determine work of our members and coaches. This weekend in Ohrid, in our new gym, was held the annual summer camp with Prof. Robert Naumoski, 2nd Degree Balck Belt and the head instructor for Roots Macedonia. He was accompanied by Marko Papuckovski, Roots Brown Belt, who spend the last year training in Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada. Rob was in charge of the GI portion of the camp, and Marko for the NO GI portion. Great details and concepts were shared, that will for sure elevate the game of every participant on the camp. One of the most notable moments of the camp was during the grading ceremony when four of our team members were awarded with higher belts: Nenad Ristevski was awarded purple belt Nikola Protugerov was awarded blue belt Ilija Avramoski was awarded blue belt Edvud Demirovski was awarded orange belt Also two black belts were awarded on this camp. Marko Papuckovski, and Ivica Aleksovski got their black belts from Robert Naumovski. With every tournament, every seminar, every camp, every new belt, our team grows stronger and better. Roots BJJ Ohrid team members had the chance to learn from, and train, with one of the top ultra-heavy weight black belts at the moment, Ricardo Evangelista, during a seminar organised by the Macedonian BJJ Federation in Skopje. Evangelista shared small portion of his vast experience, with great details on his battle proven techniques. In Belgrade, Serbia, on 14th April 2019 was held the 5th BJJ Junior Championship. This tournament is organized for kids under 18 years, and its with international participation. Roots BJJ Ohrid, as part of bigger Roots BJJ Team, was represented by 5 competitors, and they managed to fight their way to 4 medals. Hristijan Choleski in 40-45 kg, orange belt won a bronze medal, Edvud Demirovski -53,5 kg yellow belt won a silver medal, Darjan Slavkoski +55 kg yellow belt won a silver medal and Viktorija Slavkoska 45-50 kg yellow belt also a silver medal. The last member of the team Georgi Prenzoski lost in his quaterfinal match (-64 kg yellow belt) and wasn't able to reach the podium. All of our junior teammates showed great skill and determination, and for shure we can say that they are the future of Roots BJJ Ohrid. On March 17th 2019, the State Championship in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was held in the city of Veles, organized by the Macedonian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation. Athletes from all club members of the federation were present, and all of them demonstrated great performance in their fights. The team members of Roots BJJ Ohrid, fought their way to total of 20 medals in the weight categories and absolute categories altogether, with 3 state champions. Nikola Protugerov is the state champion in adult white belt, -94,5 kg category, Tome Gjoreski is the state champion in adult white belt, +100,5 kg category and Edvud Demirovski is the state champion in juvenille yellow belt category. Beside them, the rest of the team won 6 silver medals and 8 bronze medals in their weight categories. In the absolute categories, Nikola Protugerov, despite having a shoulder injury fought his way to the finals, but lost, securing the second place, and the silver medal. In the blue belt absolutes, Marija Ristevska and Daniel Andreevski won bronze medals.
